Emma Krumbee's Orchard

Last Saturday was a bit chilly.  But a bit chilly is just right for a Scarecrow Festival.  Especially if you have a new hat to wear.
I am in love with this hat.  You will be seeing it a lot this winter.
There was a dirt road lined with Scarecrows that were pretty cool, but a bit too scary to get too close to.  We walked in the middle of the road.
Peanut loved this bike and had fun riding with the other boys, even if his had to be "Mom Powered".  The big boys were nice and pretended not to notice.

 Priceless.
I asked Peanut if he wanted to play in the hay.  He made his approach and stood like this for quite awhile.  Just looking like he lost something in the hay... Finally I picked him up and put him in it. He really isn't too impressed with hay.  Yes, Papa...he is too smart for hay. Smile.

And finally here is my Pumpkin with a pumpkin in his adorable, albeit slightly too big, ready for Fall hat. What a great time to live here.  Happy Fall Friends and Family.

Mountain Man

I had to lead with the above picture...which was the inspiration for this post's title.  Doesn't he just look like he should be on some Mountain Man reality show?  This is the end of the first day of Peanut's first cabin trip.     I have received some raised eyebrows when I referred to our little adventure as camping.  C'mon, the wifi was a little spotty.  That's roughing it, right?
The next picture might be my favorite sunset picture ever, although it's not quite sunset and you can't really see the sun.

We let the poor little guy come inside the air conditioned cabin for some food and a cold drink.  He had a big appetite every meal that trip!  Wearing Dad's hat is his fave.
Earlier that day...hanging with Dad.  Thanks Dear for making all of this happen for us.  It was such a perfect first family vacation!
There was a sandbox right behind the cabin.  This place was made for little boys!
Think he's telling Daddy a fish story?
And there were toys to go with the sandbox.  This kind of truck is right up Peanut's alley.  I love the one's that don't make noise because I'd much rather hear my little boys "vroom-vroom".  After we tucked Peanut in bed (that went surprisingly well), Best and I roasted hot dogs and smores.  We talked and laughed and I think I just fell in love all over again. Smile.

The next day we hiked around the campground and spotted some animals including mules, cows, chickens, rabbits, ducks, caribou, lots of pheasents, turkeys, and donkeys.

They also had a big playground which thrilled Peanut.
Right across the lake was a state park, so we decided to take advantage of the borrowed jogging stroller (thanks Amy) and do a little exploring.

I know it isn't nice to laugh behind people's backs, especially your own child's, but I just got so tickled at this little leaf on Peanut's behind that just stuck the whole time he played.  ( And what a cute little behind he has!)
We headed back to the cabin just in time to watch the sun going down and ate dinner at the picnic table on "our porch".
Here is Peanut making a call before dinner.  Don't worry, we have taught him to put his cell phone away when the food is served!
Best and I didn't have a fire that night.  Instead we snuggled up on the futon and watched a movie and ate marshmallows right out of the bag.  The next day we woke, played, packed the car, and headed back to the park for a picnic lunch.  It was a sunny day and the temperature was awesome.  I love it here.

The picnic blanket Peanut is sitting on was my anniversary present to Best.  Year two is cotton so I made a game quilt.  You can get a closer look at it here. I love picnics and have visions of us enjoying food and laughter with this blanket beneath us for many years to come.

The picture below is my new favorite of my guys.
They both make me swoon.
I took the tripod and remote because I am determined to get a few pictures of all 3 of us together.  After a few tries that looked like this
I finally got this.

It's not perfect, Peanut is a bit serious and you can see the remote between my legs, but it's pretty darn good and it's my family on our first vacation. SMILE.
