Dock of the Bay

Last Saturday we took Peanut on his first fishing trip.  Best's boss lives on the lake and was kind enough to let us use his dock.  This is the same boss who showed up at our door one night with a bat, ball, and t-stand for Peanut.  He is a great guy.
To say they have a nice backyard would be an understatement.  Here is a glimpse of it as Best and Peanut head for the dock.
I really had nothing to do with the fishing...my job was to watch Peanut when Best was baiting the hook and take pictures.  Peanut was very interested.  He listened to his Daddy and Best is so patient with him.  I bet this won't be their last fishing trip. Smile.
Maybe it is just a pregnancy thing, but the whole time I kept thinking, "I wish I had some gummy worms."  Turned out the fish might've been thinking the same thing as we didn't get one bite!
Regardless of the poor fish turnout, we had fun.  Peanut saw a hose in the water that was running to one of the boats and was convinced it was a snake so that pleased him.  When asked about the trip he will tell you "I didn't (catch any fish) but I saw a snake."
And as I mentioned, their backyard is huge and beautiful so we had fun running and playing while Best worked vigilantly to hook a big fish!  The next expression is Peanut telling a joke.  When I ask him to tell me a funny joke he just laughs insanely....funny stuff.

I love to watch them together.

This is my favorite picture from the day.  It will be in the mid 90's all this week, a little hot for this pregnant lady, so I'm glad we had our outdoor outing when we did.  Stay cool friends and family and enjoy the end of this great summer!

Big News for our Little Family!

So you may have already guessed...we are expecting baby #2 in mid March!  We are beyond thrilled and Peanut is already a proud big brother.  He will be moving into his big boy bed when we get into the new house and he is really excited.
He is so funny about it all.  He gets confused as to exactly where the baby is right now.  So far it has been in my shoulder, "the boobs", and one time it was even in his tummy!  But he tells me he loves the baby and he will be nice to it so that's good.  I have told him that the baby will come out after Santa Claus comes, trying to get across the point that this whole process takes some time.  He readily accepts this but always reminds me that he "doesn't like Santa Claus".  Let me clarify...he wants to make sure I know he still doesn't want to sit on his lap at the mall, but he will take the presents.  He told me that Santa could just leave the toys "and go back home".  Smile.  Hard to believe I could ever love another child as much as I do him, but I know I will.
Monday Best and I got the best present ever when we got to see our new baby for the first time.  It was just so incredible to see the heart beating and all the movements.  I am so excited to feel the first kick!
We have waited and hoped for this baby for so long and I think it was waiting too...for the right time.  Maybe it just wanted it's own room.
Have a great week friends and family!

Backyard Ball

The weather has been just beautiful here and we are enjoying every minute of it!  It's hard to believe there was snow just 4 months ago.  I'm hoping we will have a long Fall season.  It's my favorite season here.  Summer is great though and we are enjoying our family time with Gammie and Papa so much.  Last weekend Papa and Best took Peanut out back for a baseball lesson.  Not sure who had the most fun! Smile.
Pitching Practice: Papa was (and still is) a great baseball pitcher.
Batting practice:  I didn't understand all the technical terms but I'm pretty sure Peanut now knows more than I do!  Something about crossing over...not sure if that's good or bad?  I just take pictures.
Best's boss was so kind to give Peanut an adjustable tee.  We will be using it for a long time.

And my handsome husband is quite a good ball player too!  I came inside after a bit, but watched out the window as they played.  The sound of their laughter warmed my heart.
Here is just a pic from last week when Peanut and I slipped away for a breakfast treat.  He is becoming quite well known at the local McDonalds.  Pretty soon we won't be able to share one breakfast anymore...he is growing so fast!
Hope the summer is warming your body and spirit!  Have a great week friends and family.

Midsummer Festival at Cedar Lake Farm

I have been a little late at posting, but we have been having a great summer and I find myself spending all my free time with the family...and to be honest napping. Smile.  What is it about these hot summer days that make me so tired?  Maybe it's all the activity too.  We have been staying busy and here are a few scenes from our trip to the Midsummer Festival and Cedar Lake Farm.  Peanut took his first canoe ride.  And we managed to stay upright!
He was just so cute that one of the photographers from the local paper asked to take his picture and it ended up right on the front page of our town's newspaper.  Proud Mama!

Peanut loves to watch the big tractors.
When I see pictures of him in his stroller like this with his legs hanging down so far it catches me off guard.  Wasn't he just a tiny little bundle in there a few days ago?
We were so happy to meet some of our friends there and the older boys enjoyed the rope making demonstration and even made their own ropes.
Sometimes Daddy is the best ride at the fair!

My friend's son with the rope he made.  He is such a creative boy and I'm sure he'll find many uses for it.
Looks like it's already making a pretty good jump rope!

My dear friend and her other two boys making ropes.  The little guy here and Peanut have been friends since they were just infants and I'm so thankful.  It's amazing the friendships that form with the parents of your children's friends.
Uh...Best, do we need to make you your own rope?
We had a little grown up time a few weeks ago at a friends wedding. Great food and fun catching up with friends.  Thanks Gammie and Papa for taking care of our little man.
Have a great week friends and family!
