Zoo Adventure

This week was an exciting first for Peanut...his maiden trip to the zoo!  I was so happy that we had friends to join us.

We ate lunch first and enjoyed the indoor playroom.  Peanut liked the bee-hive best!

And I think this was a box to hold shoes...but Peanut thought it might make a good race car.

We got a look at the penguins...

This was the last weekend of the baby farm animals.  It's a seasonal exhibit and I think we will be back next year!

This goat made a snack of Peanut's hoodie!  Kids...

I wish I had been able to get more shots of Peanut in the petting zoo, but some of the animals were nipping and this Mama Bear had to hold onto her baby.  Smile.

After the farm visit we headed over to see the big cats...

And the Bears...

I love these guys.  Makes me think of one of Peanut's favorite books, "If You Give a Moose a Muffin". 

 I wonder if he was thinking the same thing...

We had a few other stops, but we didn't see everything...wanted to save some of the new experiences to enjoy with Daddy.  We are now proud members of the zoo and we plan on learning alot more about the fascinating creatures that live there.

Last stop was the Snow Monkeys.  Now I will tell you that Best claims to speak Snow Monkey...  too bad he wasn't there to interpret for us, but the picture below speaks for itself.  LOVE.

April Showers

This week started out rainy and Peanut and I were a little sad that we were going to have to stay indoors Monday...until we got a call that a friend would be stopping over to play!  Seems a friend's babysitter had fallen through at the last moment.  We were happy to help, but most of all happy to have the company of this very sweet little boy.  



I thought it would be fun to get some pictures of the boys playing together, but at this age its difficult.  They are absorbed in their own world...engaged in what the baby psychologists call "parallel play" as seen in above picture. The pic below is when I called Peanut over...yikes!  Don't worry, I caught him just in time. Although I wasn't really worried, Peanut loves his friends.  Thinking maybe he was just going to fix his hair?  Smile.

We had a fun, busy week with baby class, playdates, Little Gym, and even some walks when the sun made an appearance.  But lo and behold Saturday it was raining again.  So in leiu of our planned family walk, Best stayed home with Peanut while I ventured to the 75% off sale at the thrift store.  Here is Peanut reaping the rewards:

I was so excited to find this!  You might remember from a previous post that Peanut loves to flip things.  He was fascinated with this colorful "flipping machine".  Thats part of the fun you know. When you get the toys without the box you have no idea what the actual name is so you get to call them whatever you want, like flipping machine.

 And every happy household needs a little music.  Especially on a rainy day.

As I was digging through the music bin at the store I came across some recorders.  I think everyone has played these at some point.  Most likely in elementary school.  But who still remembers how to play "Mary had a Little Lamb" like a champ?  My Best of course. Smile.

This inspired Peanut, but unfortunately it seemed he has inherited his musical talent from his mother...ahem...

 This next toy was a quarter.  I told Best that even if it lasted only one day it was okay because it was so inexpensive.  And it did...almost (see Furry Pants).

Today we headed out to a birthday party.  The weather cooperated and we had fun catching up with friends.

It was a surprise party and we were a little early so Best suggested stopping to snap a few pictures.  God, I love that man!

Down the hatch!

Best works so hard each week and I do try to feed him a good meal at least a few nights...in between left overs and pizza.  Smile.  So Friday night I decided to make Spaghetti dinner for my boys. 

It was Peanut's first time for spaghetti and he dug right in!  I'm glad he likes his Mama's cooking.  There were side salads as well, but that was an afterthought.  As Best puts it, "I don't really have alot of time for salad." 

Got some hand me downs recently and this long-sleeved plastic bib is perfect for messy meals!

That little piece of pasta on his cheek was there the whole meal! 

Being messy is part of being a baby and I know he will grow out of it so I wanted to capture these fun memories...at least I think he will grow out of it:

I love when we can eat together as a family.  Sometimes it's tough since Peanut goes to bed at 6 pm!  This night he made it til almost 7.  Smile.

It was a great way to start the weekend.  After a warm bath we put Peanut to bed and started a ping pong tourney.  Best bought me the table for a wedding present and it is my prized possession. 

It was a hard fought battle with lots of laughter.  I am so thankful for Friday nights at home with my Best friend.  ...and for a baby who sleeps so well.

10 months young!

I can't believe that my little Peanut is 10 months old today.  Here he is this morning in his new "big boy" jammies from Gammie.

Before he was born I worried that the big sliding glass door in his nursery would be a problem.  I was so wrong!  Best put a new lock on, got some custom black out shades, and we were in business.  The sunshine business that is:

and easy access to the outdoors for fun in the grass....

The bottom of the dog kennel and an old storage tub filled with water, bubbles, and a few odds and ends is lots of fun!

  

 Peanut loved splashing and playing and "talking" to the passing cars. He is quite assertive.

    

We also made time for the Easter Bunny.  He can be a little frightening....

But not so much when you're with your Mommy. Smile.

And then there is the business of collecting eggs:

Here we are at a community hunt at the baseball field.  But we didn't stop there.  We found more eggs in Gammies yard!

                       Finally!  Some eggs with age appropriate treats!  Gotta love those Cheerios.

Finally after all that excitement it was time to relax and watch some golf with Pappa.  Pappa went to the Masters this year and Peanut got an official "Green Jacket" outfit.  Thank you Pappa!
