Happy Birthday Best!

Happy Birthday!  We celebrated a little early since Best was going out of town early the morning after his actual birthday.  We had homemade Oreo cake on Friday and a birthday date out to dinner and a movie on Sat. night. Thank you Gammie and Papa for staying with Peanut.  I know he had as much fun as we did.  We had a great dinner and really enjoyed the movie about Jackie Robinson.

He is sooo ready to get some of this cake!  He was so funny singing happy birthday to Best, but then also singing to the cake as it was cooling.  "Happy Birthday to you cake" he calls it.

 

He liked the frosting the best and turned each piece so that was what went in his mouth first.

So then Best's actual birthday was the following Thursday and I couldn't bear the thought of us not  having dessert on the "real" day so Peanut and I came up with a healthy treat to fit into our "we're going on a diet when the Oreo cake is gone" diets...

 I have to tell you that it was soooo easy and I actually liked it better than the Oreo cake, which was mighty good.  Peanut and I made sort of a trifle with layers of angel food cake, fruit, sugar free pudding, and light cool whip.  It was delish!  Here is Peanut working on his job of tearing the cake and putting it into the bowl.  Ahem..Peanut...that is not how I demonstrated it.  Smile.

 And moving the cake didn't work either...so

 I just moved him on to another activity close by which he was quite pleased with.

 He got back into the action during clean up licking some spoons.  Wasn't that always the best part of baking anyways?  I am so happy to have him home with me learning and making these precious memories.

And here is our finished product.  I figured out that each serving (if you get 10 servings) has about 175 calories.  Trust me, it tastes like a whole lot more!

 Do you sometimes need a change of clothes after you prepare a meal?  Ha!  Well we got him dry and had another great birthday celebration with some terriyaki chicken, sticky rice (which apparently Peanut loves!) and dessert.  Here's to another great year babe, love you!

Children's Museum

 Peanut and I made our first trip to the Minnesota Children's Museum last  week and had a fabulous time.  We were joined by some friends from our Thursday morning ecfe class and that made it even better!  Here he is sporting his admission sticker: It's not a cheap date I will say, but it is chock full of fun and learning.

 It was fun to watch and notice how much he's changed and grown since our last visit to a children's museum.  He is much more hands on now!

 I could never figure out where these "acorns" were going, but Peanut had fun funneling them into the machine.

 He was not about to stick his hand in the hole without taking a peek inside first.  Smart kid. 

 We did not leave this exhibit dry.  Smile.

 With his friend from class in the canoe.  They played together so well.

 I thought this was such a neat activity for the kids.  They placed foam blocks on a belt and then turned the wheel to move them.  Great cause and effect!  The whole contraption included pulleys, levers, and other kid powered vehicles to move the blocks up to the second level of the "house" and then back down.  Very clever!

 He loved the water feature/ball combination!  Maybe a future beach volleyball player?  Ah...not with that complexion I hope!

 This was just so colorful I wanted to get a shot of it!  The picture doesn't do justice to how bright and beautiful it is with the sun shining in.  These next pics were taken in the play town part of the museum.  Speedy Delivery?  Im not sure how, but he made the connection between that hat and the mailbox all on his own!

 His own cart!  Hmmnn.. a banana in the cart, doesn't surprise me you little monkey!

 I love this next picture.  If you look closely you can see that Peanut's little friend has loaded down her cart with fruits and veggies.  Peanut's cart has 2 containers of Chinese take out.  Ha!

 Boat races!  The little boy waiting was so patient as it took Peanut quite awhile to get the trap door up and his boat in place. 

 But he did!  Great job Peanut!

Peanut's friend liked the bubbles best.
